About Zoie...

I hail from none other than the magnificent city of Chicago, Illinois – and when I say "city-proper," I mean the heart of it all. My journey as a journalist commenced right in my living room, where I used a vacuum cleaner as my makeshift microphone, firing away the toughest of questions at my family. It escalated to the point where my uncle insisted that I should pursue a career in news because, well, I had an uncanny knack for asking a multitude of questions.

My essence thrives on curiosity and creativity, the foundation of storytelling. This is exactly why I'm drawn to the realm of performance art. Whether it's the dazzling lights of Broadway or the grace of Alvin Ailey's dancers gliding across the stage, these stories told through performance art nourish my soul. I'm a bold aficionado of productions like Dream Girls and Hamilton, but my passion extends beyond the stage; I harbor an enduring love affair with the silver screen. This ardor was sparked in my youth through ballet classes and participation in concert choir, culminating in my self-appointed role as an arts critic.

All of these aspects in addition to classical journalism training at THE University of Missouri make me the journalist I am; eager to learn and grow, and tell compelling stories in whatever community I finds myself in.
